The New Brighton Tower, built in New Brighton, Wirral, England, was patterned on the Eiffel Tower. Construction began in June 1896. The steelwork was done by Andrew Handyside and Company with whom C. L. Weller worked. Several workmen fell to their deaths during construction. The tower deterioated over time, partly due to World War I and II, and was destroyed by a fire in 1969.
